Signs were lettered by hand when the shop opened. The tools have changed since; a clean letter you can read from across the boulevard is still the whole job.

Born on Atlantic Blvd

Jack Signs was founded by Jack Helstowski in 1938 in East L.A., on the corner of Whittier and Atlantic Blvd. It stayed a family business for generations, and through the late sixties it moved up Atlantic a few times. At its last stop on Atlantic the landowner sold the property, so in the seventies the shop moved to Washington Blvd, and it has been there ever since.

For years the sign out front said 1958. One owner changed the date, worried customers would picture a much older man behind the counter. The real year, 1938, is the one on this page. Today Jack Signs is still making signs, and the vinyl, the printers and the trucks have changed with the city, but the job is the same: make your idea look like it belongs on the street.

Questions

What does Jack Signs make?

Printing, signage and vehicle wraps, for businesses and for individuals who want to be seen and make a statement.

How do I get a quote?

Fill out the quote form on this page or call (323) 264-0361. We talk through the details and give you an accurate estimate for your job.

How long does it take?

It depends on the size of the job. Your quote includes an estimated timeframe, and we keep you posted until it is done.

Will I see a proof first?

Yes. Most projects get a proof, so you can ask for changes before anything goes into production.

What materials do you use?

Durable materials chosen for where the work will live: vinyl, fabric, paper and more.

Can you design it from scratch?

Absolutely. Bring existing artwork or nothing at all; our designers will build a layout around your brand and message.

Are vehicle wraps removable?

Yes. Wraps come off without damaging the paint, and while they are on they protect it from UV and minor scuffs.

Can I wrap a leased truck?

Yes, and one with old graphics too. We can remove the old graphics, install the new wrap and take it off when the lease ends.

How do I care for a wrap?

Hand wash with mild soap. Skip abrasive cleaners and high-pressure car washes. We give you care instructions with every wrap.

How can I pay?

Credit cards, checks and electronic transfers. We send payment details with your quote.
